A special Marian Shrines Pilgrimage to Fatima, Lourdes, Montserrate with visits to Barcelona, Avila, Burgos, Segovia, Zaragova and Madrid

Day 1: Departure from the USA on a transatlantic flight. Dinner, breakfast, and movies on board.

 

Day 2: Arrival in Madrid with connection to Lisbon. At arrival we will be greeted and assisted at the airport and immediately we will begin a panoramic visit to the capital of Portugal; Lisbon- Lisbon is a city of pastel colors and cobblestone streets, of vistas and monuments. We will visit the Monastery de los Jeronimos, the Cathedral and the Sanctuary of St. Anthony, where the famous saint was born. Then We will be on our way to Fatima. Rest of the day free. Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 3: Fatima. This day will be filled with religious activities. We will have the opportunity to do the Via Crucis, the stations were built by the Hungarian Refugees. We will venerate Our Lady of Fatima in the Chapel of the Apparitions, and we will have time to visit the tombs of Jacinta and Francisco, recently beatified by the Holy Father. Dinner at our hotel.

 

Day 4: Very early in the morning, after breakfast we will take the road to the border. At the border we visit the town of the picturesque Ciudad Rodrigo. Enjoy a lunch of tapas. After lunch, we will be on our way to Avila, the city of Santa Teresa. Rest of the day free. Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 5: This morning we will sightsee on foot through this magnificently preserved walled city. The spirit of Santa Teresa still pervades the entire town. Around midday we will have a liturgical service at the Convento de la Encarnacion where the saint spent a great number of years. Afterwards, our bus will take us toSegovia, where time will be given to eat lunch on your own and to admire the famous Roman Aqueduct. After lunch we will be on our way to Burgos. Upon arrival we will enjoy a guided visit to the Gothic Cathedral, considered a Patrimony of Humanity by the UNESCO. Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 6: After breakfast we will be on our way to Lourdes. We will travel through the Northern part of Spain, encountering beautiful views and charming villages that make the Basque Coast, and we will stop for a light lunch  near the border. We will arrive at Lourdes in the early evening. Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 7: Lourdes. After breakfast, we will visit on foot all the places related to Bernardette. This afternoon will be free for private devotion, and religious activities, and tonight, after dinner, we will participate in the candlelight procession and blessing of the sick, which is one of the highlights of this pilgrimage. Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 8: After breakfast, we will be on our way to Barcelona, aptly called “Pearl of the Mediterranean Sea.” Today, we will cross the mountains of the Pyrenees a region that has produced a particular art, and language. This is a day filled with vistas and fresh air, and individual arrangements could be made for a “picnic lunch” with the hotel in Lourdes to be eaten at one of these mountain spots. We will arrive in Barcelona this afternoon. Balance of the day free. Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 9: After breakfast we will be on our way to Monserrat, the mountain near Barcelona where we will venerate La Moreneta, the black Madonna, and where as tradition is in this part of Spain, those couples who are married, could renew their matrimonial vows at the Camerin, the chapel of the Virgin. We all participate in the eucharist at the Abbey of the Benedectines. After lunch, we will enjoy a guided panoramic visit of Barcelona, visiting the Cathedral, the Gothic Quarters and admire the façade of the Church of the Holy Family. Dinner at the hotel.

 

In the morning we will bid farewell to those who return home. They will be transferred to the airport while we continue with the following program:

 

Day 10:After breakfast we will be on our way to Zaragoza. We will stop there to participate in the eucharist at the Capilla del Pilar, the most venerated chapel in all Spain. Lunch could be eaten at one of the cafes that are around the Sanctuary, and once lunch is finished we will be leaving for Madrid.Rest of the day free. Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 11: This morning, after breakfast, we will be guided through Madrid in a panoramic visit of the city. Sights like the Royal Palace, La Gran Via, El Parque del Retiro, La Plaza Mayor, and many other sights will be in our itinerary. This afternoon will be free to explore on your own the streets of Madrid, or to go to El Prado Museum, or to take one of the optional trips to El Escorial or El Valle de los Caidos. We will have our farewell dinner tonight at the hotel and we will make a toast with wine saying: Salud!

 

Day 12: After breakfast, our bus will take us to Barajas Airport for the flight home. We only have to add: May Our Blessed Virgin Mary keep you in her love forever!
