Egypt and a Nile Cruise
A Journey into 5000 years of history
 
 

Day 1: Flight to Egypt 

Depart on a transatlantic flight. Dinner and movies on board
 

Day 2: Arrival to Cairo.

We are met and assisted at the airport. Transfer to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
 

Day 3:Cairo 

After breakfast we travel to the Giza Plateau to visit the Great Pyramids and theSphinx. Our visit will include entrance to the Great Pyramids and a camel ride. In the afternoon visit the EgyptianMuseum of Antiquities which includes the world’s largest collection of Pharaonic artifacts and the treasures of Tutankhamen’s tomb. Proceed to Khan El Khalili, the world’s largest 13th century covered oriental bazaar. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.
 

Day 4:  Luxor 

In the morning we will take a short flight to Luxor. Upon arrival transfer to our cruise ship for a 5 day/4-night cruise. We will visit the East Bank with its Temples of Karnak and Luxor (centuries-old city of pylons, hypostyle halls, colossal statues and obelisks). We will also visit the Valleys of the Kings and Queens, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. We will enjoy the dinner and the Galabaya party (traditional Egyptian show). Dinner and overnight in Luxor.
 

Day 5: Luxor– Edfu.

Early morning sailing to Edfu via Esna. Dinner and overnight in Edfu.
 

Day 6: Edfu

We will travel today to the Templeof Horus, the falcon-god, considered the best-preserved ancient temple in Egypt and the second largest after the Temple of Karnak. Sail to Kom Ombo where we will visit the Ptolemaic Temple of Sobek and Haroeris, the local crocodile god and the falcon-headed sky-god, respectively. Our cruise continues to Aswan for overnight.
 

Day 7: Aswan

Morning arrival to Aswan. We start the day by touring the Philae Temple, the unfinished Obelisk and the High Dam. Sail on board a felucca, a typical Egyptian sailboat and visit Kitchner’s Island Botanical garden and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Overnight in Aswan. Optional Sound and Light show in the evening.
 

Day 8: Cairo 

after breakfast, disembark and transfer to the airport for our flight to Cairo. Arrival in Cairo and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon, visit to Old Cairo where early Judaism and Christianity flourished and visit Al Moallaka Church (Hanging Church), the site where Mary, Joseph and Jesus took refuge. Visit also Ben Ezra Synagogue. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
 

Day 9:  Cairo 

Breakfast and we start our day with a visit to Alexandria, the magnificent city of Cleopatra and Alexander the great. We will visit the catacombs of Kom El Shugafa, the fortress of Quait Bay, NationalMuseum and Alexandria Library “Bibliotheca Alexandrina”. In the afternoon farewell dinner and overnight in Cairo.
 

Day 10: Flight back home

Early morning transfer to the airport. Arrival on same day.
